On May 6, we celebrate 126 years since the official opening of the Eiffel Tower, undisputed symbol of Paris. Tower has come to dominate the French capital following an architectural competition launched on the occasion of Universal Exhibition of 1889, which marked the centenary of the French Revolution brilliant.

For five months, dozens of people digging with shovels only, evacuating earth removed using horse-drawn cars or vehicles with steam. Foundations were filled with masonry pillars to fix each of the four legs of the tower.
Once the foundations completed, the tower began to rise visibly. Over 18,000 pieces had been manufactured and were to be assembled to build the metal structure, completed with the help of the 2,500,000 rivets.
