Tsar Bomba, the most powerful nuclear bomb. Among the largest nuclear explosion in history

Business Insider published a top of the eleven largest nuclear explosion in history. The top was made according to the strength of the impact of bombs and explosions.

The largest nuclear explosion in history:

10. Ivy Mike

On November 1, 1952, the United States tested Ivy Mike Marshall Islands. This was the first hydrogen bomb on the planet, has produced an explosion of 10.4 megatons and was nearly 700 times more powerful than bombs used on Hiroshima.

Detonation bomb Ivy Mike was so strong that Elugelab Island vaporized, leaving a crater in its place. Cloud explosion circulated a distance of 30 miles.

9. Castle Romeo

Romeo was second nuclear test conducted by Castle Series in 1954. All the blasts took place in Bikini Atoll. Castle Romeo was the third most powerful test of the series, the 11 megaton explosion.

All over a distance of about 5 square kilometers was cremated.

8. Soviet test 123

On 23 October 1961 the USSR conducted 123 nuclear test in Novaya Zemlya. The test used a 12.5 megaton nuclear bomb. A bomb of this type incinerate all over a distance of about 5.5 square kilometers and cause third degree burns over a distance of about 3.3 square kilometers.

7. Castle Yankee

Castle Yankee, the second most powerful of the series Castle tests was conducted on May 4, 1954. The bomb was 13.5 megatons, and cloud explosion in four days arrived to Mexico City, which lies 18 kilometers away.

6. Castle Bravo

Castle Bravo, exploded on February 28, 1954, was the first and largest nuclear explosion test series Castle. This is the most powerful nuclear test ever conducted by the United States.

Bravo had to produce a 6-megaton explosion, but in reality, he produced one of 15 megatons. The cloud produced by the explosion circulated on an area of about 35 kilometers, and made the US military miscalculation led to irradiation of about 665 inhabitants of the Marshall Islands and the radiation caused the death of a Japanese fisherman who was 80 miles from the detonation site.

Seats 5, 4 and 3 are held by Soviet tests 173, 174 and 147

From August 5 to September 27, 1963, the USSR conducted a series of nuclear tests in Novaya Zemlya. Tests 173, 174 and 147 have, in this order, 5, 4 and 3 among the most powerful nuclear explosion in history. All three explosions occurred about 20 megatons, that is about 1,000 times greater than the bomb used on Nagasaki. A bomb of this type incinerate all over a distance of about 7.7 square kilometers.

2. Soviet test 219

219 Test conducted on 24 December 1962 by the USSR in Novaya Zemlya region, produced a 24.2 megaton explosion. A bomb that incinerates all power over a distance of about 9.2 square kilometers and third-degree burns over a distance of about 5.8 square kilometers.

  1. Tsar Bomba

On 30 October 1961 the Soviet Union detonated the most powerful nuclear bomb in history. Explosion, 3000 times stronger than that produced by the Hiroshima bomb, broke windows at a distance of 560 miles (900 kilometers). Lights Explosion products were visible from a distance of 620 miles (about 997 km). Tsar Bomba, known as the Soviet nuclear test produced an explosion of 50-58 megatons, twice higher than the second nuclear bomb that power in history. A bomb also produce a fireball power over a distance of 10.3 square kilometers and is able to produce human third degree burns over a distance of about 7.7 square kilometers of the epicenter.
