Microsoft has released a file that allows you to display a notification that can warn when the final version of Windows 10 will be available for download to users of devices running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
The file was discovered after Microsoft released an update optional, but recommended for both Windows 7 and for Windows 8.1 at the end of March; called KB3035583 update.
The official description says:
This update activates extra capabilities to Windows Update notifications. I am available for any system running Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Once the update is downloaded, it adds a folder in system32 called "GWX" which contains nine files in a folder called "Downloads". One of the four executable files show what this update, File description GWXUXWorker.exe is: "Download Windows 10 '.
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 can be downloaded for free by users of a system running Windows 7 and 8.1 in the first year of release. It is possible that this notification to alert users when Windows 10 is ready. Any user of Windows 7 and 8.1 may enroll in the Microsoft Insider to have a preview version of Windows 10 on a PC or laptop.
