Concorde 001 made its first test flight from Toulouse on 2 March 1969 and reached supersonic speed on October 1.

Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde was a supersonic passenger plane, a joint project of the French Government and the British. In total 20 aircraft were built, the high costs incurred by the two governments, public money.

Concorde first flew in 1969 and entered commercial service in 1976. The aircraft operated transatlantic flights from London Heathrow (British Airways) and Charles de Gaulle, Paris (Air France) to JFK, New York and Dulles, Washington, flying at record speeds. Basically, Concorde managed to cover the distance of the destinations above in less than half the average time of other aircraft.

An accident of 25 July 2000, the economic effects that followed the events of 11 September 2001, and other factors have made flights to cease on October 24, 2003.
