What researchers have discovered about the people who occupy high positions? Their partners should be careful

The people occupying higher positions, so they are more likely to be unfaithful, say the authors of a study published in the journal Sex Research.

The study, cord social psychology professor Joris Lammers, tried to find out if the power of a high position is associated with high rates of infidelity. The study was based on data collected from 610 women and heterosexual men Dutch consulting popular websites Lifestyle (Men's Health and Marie Claire).

About 9% of people with lower-level management functions confessed that they were unfaithful. In contrast, 24% of middle level managers said they were infidels and 37% of people who are top managers admitted that they had cheated spouses.

The authors suggest that scandals about men in high positions who were unfaithful are more frequently exposed in the press simply that "men more often than women occupy public offices and other powerful positions," not because women are less likely deceive their life partners.

"Power psychological frees people from the inhibitory effects of social norms and increases their tendency to express certain forms of sexuality counter-normative", added the researchers.

A survey conducted recently on the website Match.com, a popular online dating platform for adults, showed that 36% of married adults in the UK have admitted that they have been unfaithful.
